Stitching with Ribbon Floss – Detail 115 January 21st, 2007

Buttonhole Stitch Variation

I used the piece of gold ribbon floss from the heavenly embellishments bag to do this Buttonhole stitch variation and added beads to emphasize the different lengths of the stitches.

Fly Stitch – Detail 114 January 20th, 2007

I stitched a seam today but have been plying with the camera and have flattened the Batteries and can’t recharge them untill I borrow a german 2 plug to Australian 3 plug power cord converter….In the mean time this is another seam on the crazy quilt that I am making for my mum.

2 rows of Fly stitches with long seal off stitches that make them look like Ys.

Another TAST Detached Chain – detail 113 January 19th, 2007

Embroidering a crazy quilt patchEmbroidering on the patches is something that I have not done very often but always like it when I see it, which I did last night on Mary’s block where she had scattered stars across a patch, I am doing stars on the brown patch but got side tracked by thinking about detached Chain stitch, Sharon’sTAST stitch for this week…I used 2 detached chains and a colonial knot to create a small flower which I scattered randomly on the patch. I put one flower in the next patch across, it gives the hint that the flowers are embroidered and not a part of the fabric but more importantly it moves the eye around, further disguising the long line of seam that I had down the middle of the block.

I have the Camera Manual January 18th, 2007

This afternoon I did another search of the net and this time I found the English version of the manual for the Camera that I have borrowed, it took me a bit of fiddleing to get it printed, I cut A4 paper into quaters to get the right size paper and to bind it I had to split it into 2 parts because it was to big for the binding spirals…now I just have to study it.

buttonhole stitch

Blanket Stitch…Such a versatile stitch here I have done it with different lengthed stitches and alternating the side of the seam that it is stitched on.

TAST Week 3 – Detached Chain Stitch – Detail 111 January 16th, 2007

Lazy DaisyTo start with I did a seam of lazy daisys which is detached Chain Stitch with French knots in the centres.

I then took a gold ring that was in the Heavenly Embellishments Bag and attached it with 2 coloured detached chain sealed with long stithes…

TAST week 2 – Blanket Stitch – Detail 110 January 15th, 2007

I found a review of the camera that describes all the functions and how to control the menus so I have been able to turn it on and use the auto feature to take photos of my TAST stitches.

I started with these half buttonhole wheel fans which I have stitched onto my heavenly embellisments block.

I have stitched this larger fan onto my Box Top which you can see in the Box Top Category and you can see the stitches that I have done thus far on this project, about 20 seams, on the embroidery page of my website

Camera Update January 14th, 2007

Today I borrowed a card reader that has a slot that fits my camera card but alas while the card fits the slot my computer can’t/wont read what is on it, so my camera is still out of action…but the same friend who lent me the card reader is going to Sydney for a month and has lent me his camera, it is a Canon PowerShot Pro 1, which is really rather exciting as it is a much more sophisticted camera than mine, now I just have to learn how to use it but first I have to search the internet for an instruction manuel because the manual with it is written in German…Guess what I will be doing tomorrow??

Backdating January 13th, 2007

last week when
Sharon
celebrated 3 years of Blogging and commented that ‘The tradition on an anniversary is to link to your first post’, I was reminded that I had never finished transfereing my old blog entries when I moved to my loopylace blog…I had saved all the files before it disappeared from cyber space and yesturday when I was looking through those files to find the gardening entries to put in the garden journal that I have started and as it happens one thing leads to another and while I had the files open I started transfering them onto wordpress, for each entry I need to copy and paste the words, upload the images, put them into appropriate catagory and edit the time stamp, once I had the rhythm going I got through them much quicker than I would have expected. For those that didn’t read my blog then they are the Achive entries prior to Sep 2005.
