Day 48 – A Little Fantasy August 7th, 2006

Stary Sky

Below the Moon the stormy night sky joins to dark stary space, for the seam treatment between these 2 patches I used a 1/4″ wide rushed ribbon which I stitched on in to create cloud like curves.

Most of my crazy quilting has a touch of Fantasy/Whimsy and in this piece it is the Dragon flying in the sky…The Dragon Charm as well as most of the Fabrics and many other bits in this piece are from swaps with the crazyquilt email list.

The Dragon is also a clear detail to show how I sew my charms on…I choose a thread that matches the background and Whip Stitch over the loop of the charm…It takes a little longer to stitch them on like this but I think that it is worth the time because I know that they are not going to fall off and the loop doesn’t distract from the charm when it is covered to blend with the background.

Dragon

The seam treatment for the line between the sky and the snowman is Coral Stitch done with silk ribbon.
