Day 47 Night Sky August 6th, 2006

Night Sky

Above the MOP Button snow man there is a Night Sky with the Moon and a constellation of stars.

The Fabric on the left was a piece of green cheesecloth that I had put through a shibori dye pot and it has a wonderful stormy effect

I left the fabric pathes loose when I joinded them so that I could scrunch thethe area for the stars which I stitched in amongst the folds/pleats of the scrunched area.

For the seam that joins the 2 sky fabrics, rather than a seam treatment that would stand out, I one that was would blend the 2 fabrics together and disappear…I used a dark blue thread that is close in the colour value of both fabrics and then I have interspersed stem stitch with buttonhole stitches that are atf odd angle and varied lengths with some pointing into one patch and some into the other.
