Day 43 – Flowing Bow August 2nd, 2006

Ribbon Bow

Bows with flowing tails are a lovely embellishment for moveing the eye around a block….

‘Can’t tie a nice looking bow’ I hear you say…

‘Don’t have to be able to tie a nice looking bow’ says I…

‘Because you make it nice looking by stitching it into shape’

Tie any old bow in the centre of about 12 inches of narrow ribbon (silk or satin) so that it has 2 small loops and 2 long tails.

Stitch the knot part of the bow to the background so that the bow is anchored, then push the loops into the shape you want holding it in place with small tacking stitches….

Flip flop the ribbon tails tacking them down as you go.

Finish by covering the tacking stitches with colonial knots or beads.
