An Empty Basket March 8th, 2005

The basket is empty

Another knitted metreWhen I started knitting this Basket was full of acrylic yarn, now as you can see there is very little left….it was a challenge to use up the last bits the colours left being red, pink and yellow, colours which I would normally not put together but I had to use them all to get the length….I experimented with designs and ended up with a Band sampler although some things will never be repeated I am delighted with the finished metre.

Colour Values March 3rd, 2005

I must confess to getting a bit side tracked by the knitted metres, they are the perfect thing to experiment with design and I have made it a challenge to knit all the acrylic yarn that I have so that I don’t have to store it anymore, it is quite a challenge as a lot of it is in very short lengths and there is not much choice of colour left….So I was delighted when the idea for the panel below came to me, it was a bit of patchwork thinking that inspired it, instead of looking at the colours and trying to put them together I looked at the value and put the lights on one side and the darks on the other and altghough it is still stripes the division of dark and light dominates and distracts from the stripes. i only had enough darks to knit half a metre so will put a solid colour at the ends to make it up to length.
